Please
note:
This is now the
second edition of this book.
Whereas the original document provided
directions from location to location,
this one has directions stated in more
general terms. For those locations
which are relatively close together, we
have also provided a step by step guide
from the previous entry.
Also, since the
2017 document was published, a number of
changes have been made at some of these
sites. Some properties have
changed ownership and a number of these
falls have been added to the GNIS data
base, meaning they are now officially
named. Those changes are reflected
in this book.
Finally, we have
become aware of a different printing
process which has allowed us to publish
this document at a lower cost compared
to the original. We have been able
to lower the price by almost $4.00
without losing document quality.

The Mohawk River is one of the longest rivers
completely contained within New York State.
A major portion of it runs east-west through the
center of the state. This waterway, along
with the Erie Canal, Oneida Lake, Oneida River
and the Oswego River, form a water boundary
defining the southern portion of the region we
call Northern New York.
This book will guide you through 50 waterfall
locations in seven counties, all or part of
which are immediately north of these waterways. All falls described are within 1/2 mile of a highway and many
offer roadside views.
This is not intended to be a collection
of magnificently tall descents or of the most
popular falls in the area.
It is simply a list of pretty locations
that are easy to get to.
Roadside Falls of Northern New York
Volume 3, The Mohawk Valley has
been arranged so that the reader can "tour"
these falls somewhat sequentially.
We start in Oswego County and proceed
east through Oneida, Herkimer, Montgomery,
Schenectady, Saratoga and Washington Counties.
Each waterfall is presented on a two-page spread with
a full-page color photograph and descriptive text that includes
driving directions, information and history of
the falls and the area and access information.
Sidebars feature handy at-a-glance information, such as
the location, walk time, trail type, GPS
coordinates and the size and type of waterfall.
This is the third and final volume
featuring "Roadside Falls" in the north country.
Suggested price: $20.00
