The Adirondack region of New York State encompasses much
of the area often referred to as "Northern New York" or
the "North Country". This is bordered on the west
by Lake Ontario, on the north by the St. Lawrence River
and the Canadian border and on the east by Lake
Champlain. The southern boundary is comprised of
the combined portions of the Oswego River, the Oneida
River, Oneida Lake, the Erie Canal, the Mohawk River,
the Hudson River and the Washington/Rensselaer County
Line.
The Adirondacks span more than six million acres
of mountains, lakes, streams and magnificent
scenery. A four season outdoor paradise,
there is hiking, boating, skiing and many other
activities.
The region features dozens of quaint communities
including Lake Placid, the site of the 1932 and
1980 Winter Olympics.
This book will guide you to hikes of all kinds, from
less than one mile to over 12 miles ... to 36
destinations with over 60 waterfalls. Hikers,
waterfall aficenados and outdoor enthusiasts should all
find something of interest for a future outing.
We invite you to enjoy the beauty of the
Adirondacks.
